Info

Welcome!

12th Cambridge Scout Group is a very active, friendly Group.  Over 120 young people, aged from 6 to 18, participate in a broad range of scouting activities.  We are one of the oldest Groups in the county, celebrating our centenary in 2011.

The Group currently has four sections: a Beaver Lodge, a Cub Pack and two Scout Troops.  In addition, Woodsmoke Explorer Unit meets at 12th’s hut.  Together, we provide scouting for youngsters throughout the West Chesterton area of Cambridge and beyond.

Location

Our hut is located on Gilbert Road. Find us here.

Meeting times:

  • Mondays – Cubs (6.30 – 8pm), Woodsmoke Explorers (8 – 9.30pm)
  • Wednesdays – Beavers (6.15 – 7.30pm),”Wildcats” Scouts (7.30 – 9pm)
  • Thursdays  – “Raptors” Scouts (7.30 – 9pm)

Joining 12th Cambridge

Young people wishing to join Beavers (age 6-8), Cubs (8 – 10½) or Scouts (10½ – 14) are very welcome.  Check out the the relevant pages of our site, especially the Gallery where you’ll see what we get up to!

All sections are typically full and we run a waiting list system. We are always looking for adult volunteers willing to put on a leader’s uniform, and we give priority to young people who have a family member willing to volunteer.

To join, please read our Waiting List Policy and get in touch with the Group Scout Leader, who will be happy to answer any questions.

In addition to Woodsmoke Explorer Unit, we strongly support, and benefit from, a team of Young Leaders (aged 14 – 18) who help to lead the younger sections at our Group. Young Leaders are not required to attend an Explorer Unit (but many choose to do both!).  Any of our leadership team would be delighted to hear from prospective Young Leaders!
